Corelle Vitrelle® glass is non-porous. This means nothing absorbs into it — not turmeric, not tomato, not oil, not odours. Everything that touches a Corelle plate stays on the surface and washes off completely. This is the single biggest advantage of Corelle over ceramic — and it is what makes Corelle care so straightforward.

Washing Your Corelle — Dishwasher vs Hand Washing

Dishwasher: Yes, Corelle is 100% dishwasher safe. You can put every single piece — plates, bowls, cups, saucers, serving dishes — in the dishwasher without worry. Use normal dishwasher detergent and any temperature setting. Corelle handles all of it.

Hand washing: Also perfectly fine. Use warm water, mild dish soap and a soft sponge or cloth. Avoid steel wool or abrasive scrubbers — they will scratch the surface over time.

One tip: If you have stubborn food stuck on a Corelle plate, soak it in warm soapy water for 10-15 minutes rather than scrubbing aggressively. Everything will come off easily after soaking.

Microwave Use

Corelle Vitrelle® glass is fully microwave safe. You can reheat food directly on Corelle plates without any concern. No harmful chemicals are released, no warping, no discolouration. Microwave away.

Exception: Corelle cups are made from stoneware, not Vitrelle glass. Stoneware is also microwave safe but may get hot — use care when removing from microwave.

Oven Use

Corelle plates and serving dishes are oven safe up to 177°C (350°F). Do not use Corelle plates under a broiler or directly on a stovetop — the direct concentrated heat can cause thermal shock.

Stacking and Storage

If you notice grey or silver marks on your Corelle plates — these are usually from metal utensil scratches, not stains. They can be removed with a small amount of Bar Keepers Friend or a baking soda paste. Apply, leave for 5 minutes, then wash off. Your plates will look brand new.

For any food stains — soak in warm soapy water for 15 minutes. Everything comes off. Corelle's non-porous surface does not permanently stain.
